Infighting within Congress surfaces at party workers meet
Mumbai, Jun 19 (UNI) Infighting within the Maharashtra unit of the Congress came to the fore today before party president Sonia Gandhi, with two alleged supporters of Revenue minister Narayan Rane raising anti-Chief Minister slogans, while Union home minister Shivraj Patil was addressing the meet.
The two workers were immediately picked up by police following a reported scuffle there. Some workers even threw plastic chairs.
MPCC president Prabha Rau and Congress in-charge for the state Margaret Alva, who were upset over the incident, condemned it, saying this was not the tradition of 126-year-old national party.
Mr Rane, who joined Congress three years ago after deserting Shiv Sena, is eying for the coveted post of chief minister. He had earlier issued statements indicating his wish.
