Heavy rains lash Delhi after 2 dry days, mercury drops to 33.7 deg

New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) After a two-day lull in rainfall activity since the early arrival of Monsoon in the capital city on Sunday, heavy rains lashed Delhi again this afternoon, bringing the mercury down and providing some relief from the sultry conditions of last two days.

The showers, which hit the city this afternoon, brought down the maximum temperature, from 35.2 degrees Celsius yesterday, to 33.7 degrees C, six degrees below normal.

Though the rainfall lasted for a brief while, it was enough to bring back some coolness in the Delhi air. A total of 13.8 mm rainfall was recorded till 1730 hrs.

Today's rainfall broke the lull in rainfall activity since the early arrival of Monsoon in the capital on Sunday.

While the city recieved bountiful rains on Sunday and Monday, dry conditions prevailed for the next two days.

More rain and thundershowers have been forecast in the next few days.

The Met office have forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi in the next 24 hours with one or two spells of rain and thundershowers.
