Govt to computerise all ZP's: Minister

Bangalore, June 19 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has decided to computerise all the Zilla Panchayath offices with Internet facilities for better coordination with the state government, minister for Panchayat Raj, Shobha Karandlaje said today.

Addressing a conference of the Presidents and Vice-presidents of all the 29 districts, she urged them to sink their political differences and work for the development of rural areas.

Expressing concern that over 15,000 villages in the state were deprived of access to potable water, another 21,000 were getting hard water with high fluoride content.

The minister wondered where the money spent in large sums for the purpose of providing drinking water was going.

She said the government had given priority to ensure potable water to all and appealed the Panchayath heads to cooperate by joining hands with the state government.
