Aditya Birla Minacs BPO closes centre in Canada

Mumbai, Jun 19 (UNI) Aditya Birla Minacs, the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) division of the Aditya Birla Nuvo group, will close its Saskatoon operations in Canada by September 15.

The Rs 1,700 crore Company has 12 centres in Canada, with an employee base of over 6000. The Saskatoon centre has 200 employees, who, according to the management, will be absorbed in other centres over a three-month period.

In a release here today, Company (corporate development) Executive Vice-President Jeff Williams said, ''Consolidating the Saskatoon site was an extremely difficult task for Minacs to make and was not reflection of our employees or the quality service that they have been providing for the last three years.'' The Minacs Saskatoon site was no longer sustainable because of the escalating costs of operating in western Canada, he said.

The Company is currently looking at opening up in geographies such as Latin America, Eastern Europe, and the United States. As for the Asia Pacific region, Minacs opened a centre in Baroda, India, earlier this year, and is considering opening up centres in other cities across India and adding another centre in the Philippines.
