6-member committee to make unity efforts among 2 HC groups
Srinagar, Jun 19 (UNI) The breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) and moderate HC today agreed to constitute a six-member committee to sort out all differences for unity.
Addressing a joint press conference after about six and a half hour meeting between Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq this evening, they said it was agreed to constitute the committee with three members from each faction.
The committee will discuss and sort out the differences, if any, among both the factions for unity.
This is for the first time since Mr Geelani separated from Mirwiaz faction and formed his own HC, that such a move was made for unity.
The members for the committee will be nominated by both the factions who will sit together and discuss the things.
The meeting started at the Hyderpora residence of Mr Geelani at 1145 hrs and ended at 1815 hrs. Both Mr Geelani and Mirwaiz Omar were joined by other leaders from their respective factions.
Both the factions will be functioning separately till the committee reach any conclusion.
About the transfer of forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) leading advocate Mian Abdul Qayoum, former president of the Kashmir Bar council will decide about it.
Both the factions will fight against it jointly, they said.
