10 die in rain mishaps; toll rises to 23
Jaipur, Jun 19 (UNI) As many as 10 people have died in rain related incidents in Rajasthan during past 24 hrs, even as monsoon fury disrupted normal life at some places in the state.
According to reports, four persons have died at different places in Jaipur district while six rain related casualties were reported from Alwar.
A chowkidar was electrocuted in Gangapol area in the Pink City which had first monsoon downpour last night. One youth was electrocuted when lightning struck at his hutment in Phagi area of the district while two cousins have drowned in water hole in the Kotputili area.
A UNI report from Alwar quoting official sources said that six persons including three children were killed in rain related incidents in the district during past 24 hrs.
While two 10-year old girls drowned in a water hole in Bhurpur, 12 year old Sonu was trapped in overflown pond in Dalalpura village.
Rain deaths were also reported from Lalluwali, Toda Laxmngarh and Bhudakawas villages in the district.
Four rain deaths were reported on Tuesday from Amarpura in the district, the report said.
With this, a total of 23 deaths have been reported so far from different places in the state during the current season.
Meanwhile, wide spread rains have been reported from different places in the state.
Rains accompanied with high velocity winds lashed the Capital town late last night. The Meteorology Department recorded 39 MM rainfall in the city.
Besides Jaipur, Sikar and Sawai Madhopur received 14 MM rainfall, and Dholpur, Churu and Mount Abu recorded 5 MM each,Met Office sources said.
