Woman succumbs to snake bite

Kancheepuram, Jun 18 (UNI) A middle-aged woman succumbed to snake bite as the Kancheepuram Government Hospital, where she was admitted, did not have the stock of the anti-venom medicine.

Police sources said a snake bit Sundari (42), wife of a weaver at Vaiyavur village in the district last night, when there was no electricity in the area. She was immediately rushed to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital.

However, the doctors at the hospital expressed helplessness as they had no stock of the anti-venom medicine.

Meanwhile, Sundari succumbed at the hospital.

On information, irate Vaiyavur villagers laid siege to the Government hospital and raised slogans against it.
