Three children die after consuming poisonous drink

Gorakhpur, Jun 18 (UNI) Two children, who were among 35 admitted into the hospital yesterday after consuming poisonous drink in Khirya Tola area here, died today.

With the fresh deaths, toll reaches three as one child sucummbed yesterday only, official sources said.

Gorakhpur Commissioner P K Mahant here assured stringent action against the culprit and apprised that three people have been arrested in this regard.

Family of the deceased would be given an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each, Mr Mahant said.

Out of the 35 children 15 had been admitted in Baba Raghavdas Medical College here today in critical condition.

Meanwhile, SSP (Gorakhpur) Piyush Mordiya said the drinks were being supplied from here to the other parts of the district, thus raids were conducted in dealers offices at Rajghat, Tiwaripur and Gorakhnath area.

Besides, four policemem were suspended over the same.
