Chennai, June 18 : A team of Saveetha Engineering College at Chennai has come up with an "Automatic Demand Draft (D/D) Issuing Machine".
The machine has been designed by a team of four members of the electronic communication department's students including G.Sivakumar, S.Raghul, M.Sreeram Arvikar, A.Sathya Santosh. The innovation by the students can provide D/D to the customer within no time.
"We studied the ATM core language. We proposed and created new software that could be modified with the current existing system. It is made up of a single module that can be connected to the ATM system. The procedure of usage is same like using any ATM system. Instead of taking the money out, we are supposed to give the command for a D/D," said G. Sivakumar, one of the team members. .
In this automatic D/D issuing system, a replica of the D/D is displayed in the ATM screen. The customer is to enter the details in respective columns. Once the machine verifies the requested amount with balance in bank account. And then a D/D is issued by the machine.
It can also differentiate between real and fake notes. Within seconds one can get the D/D of the amount wanted," said Venkataswamy, the principal of Saveetha Engineering College.
If adopted by the bankers the newly developed system would be a big relief for the public, which is usually, found standing in long queues in many banks. By Jehova George
