Monsoon weak over North Interior Karnataka

Bangalore, Jun 18 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours today.

Monsoon was weak over North Interior Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at many places over Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka.

Chief amounts of rainfall (cm): Kollur 6; Puttur, Siddapura, Bhagamandala, Agumbe 4 each; Belthangadi, Subramanya, Karkala, Khanapur 3 each; Mangalore, Mulki, Bajpe, Bantwal, Dharmasthala, Somwarpet, Thirthahalli, Kottigehara, Sringeri, Udupi, Honavar 2 each.

Forecast valid until Friday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur most places over Coastal Karnataka; at many places over South Interior Karnataka and at a few places over North Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Moderate to rather heavy rain likely to occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts of Coastal Karnataka and at many places over Kodagu, Shimoga, Chikmagalur and Hassan districtsof South Interior Karnataka. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at many places over remaining districts of South Interior Karnataka and at a few places over all the districts of North Interior Karnataka.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka during next 48 hours.

Forecast for Bangalore city: Generally cloudy sky. Surface winds will be strong and gusty at times. Light rain likely.
