Maya ''conspiring'' against farmers in name of Ganga Expressway
Lucknow, Jun 18 (UNI) Terming ''anti-farmer'' Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's dream Ganga Expressway project, the Communist Party of Indian (Marxist and Leninist) today demanded dismissal of the same, saying it will only add to the woes of farmers.
UP CPI(ML) secretary Sudhakar Yadav here said, ''The project is nothing but, a conspiracy to acquire 64,000 hectares of agricultural land.'' Mr Yadav said his party will protest against the UP government decision of acquiring land of 600 villages in 15 districts for the expressway.
''The BSP government is aiming at swelling pockets of the corporate world at the cost of farmers' land. The project will leave poor farmers as destitutes,'' Mr Yadav asserted.
