Landslides in Kurseong, eleven houses damaged

Kurseong, Jun 18 (UNI) Landslides occurred in a number of places under Kurseong sub-division following heavy rains today damaging eleven houses.

SDO(Kurseong) Dibendu Das said five wards under the sub-division witnessed landslides and the families residing in the affected houses were evacuated to safer places.

However, there were no reports of any casualty.

Incessant rains for the last 24 hours also disrupted life in Lava, Lolegaon and other areas of Kalimpong, Mr Das said.

Power services were largely affected in both Kurseong and Kalimpong because of heavy downpour, he said.
