Kerala Govt failed on SFC issue: Oommen Chandy
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 18 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala ssembly Oommen Chandy today alleged that the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government had miserably failed in finding a concrete solution to the Self-Financing Professional College issue even three years after it came into power.
Talking to reporters here, he said such a situation could have been avoided if the LDF Government had not withdrawn the agreement brought in by the previous Antony Government with the Self Financing professional colleges management over fee structure.
Mr Chandy suggested the Government to give scholarships to poor students, who got admissions in Self Financing Colleges through merit.
Stating that the Government had no right to fix fee structure in Self Financing Colleges, he said if the Government wanted to interfere in the rights of the colleges, it should be dismissed.
Coming down heavily on the police action against KSU workers yesterday, he said if the workers had committed any mistake the Government should take legal action against them rather beating them brutally.
The Congress leader further urged the LDF Government to convene an all-party meeting before implementing the Health Insurance Scheme in the state.
