IT official caught accepting Rs 2 lakh bribe

Nagpur, Jun 18 (UNI) CBI Sleuths caught an Income Tax officer red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakhs from a rice mill owner in Gondia in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

M D Jagdale was apprehended after he took the money in his office in Gondia yesterday CBI sources said. He had asked the rice mill owner Roshan Jaiswal money for not initiating action against him after the officer seized some documents from the mill during a routine search operation some weeks back, the sources said.

Although Jaiswal paid some money earlier, Jagdale's demands continued, with the latest being for Rs 2 lakh, CBI sources said. Jaiswal then lodged a complaint with the local CBI office, after which the officials laid a trap and caught him, the sources added.
