GPCC seeks representation in Central Cabinet
Panaji, Jun 18 (UNI) The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has sought representation for the state in the Central Cabinet at the earliest and plans to lead a delegation to call on party president Sonia Gandhi in this regard soon.
The GPCC, which met today, also decided to meet Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath for denotifying the Special Economic Zones as demanded by the state government on popular demand.
Briefing mediapersons after the meeting at the Congress House, GPCC president Francisco Sardinha said the committee did not favour more than five off-shore casinos for the state.
He said the party would pursue with the Centre for according Central University status to the Goa University for its development as an education hub in the region.
