Gang involved in stealing gold busted
Srinagar Jun 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have busted a gang here involved in stealing gold ornaments, mostly from women, police said today.
According to a police spokesman, the gang, comprising five members hailing from Bihar, would take gold ornaments from the women on the pretext of cleaning and polishing them.
The dupers used to mix some chemical with water in a container and put the ornaments in it. However, they would direct the women not to remove the ornaments from the mixture for some time for a better shine.
They would then make off with the jewellery.
However, police keeping a watch finally arrested all the five and recovered a number of items of jewellery from their possession.
They confessed to operating in Batmaloo, Rambagh, Dalgate and other areas in city.
The dupers were identified as Bikhari Kumar Paswan, Mohammad Shahnawaz Aalam, Mohammad Ansar Aalam, Cheetan Kumar, and Papu Kumar Paswan.
