Facilitation Act for industries proposed

Bhopal, Jun 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government is framing a new legislation to provide facilities and approvals through a single window in a time-frame to new industries, Commerce and Industry Minister Jayant Malaiya said today.

The draft of the Facilitation Act, approved by the cabinet, will be introduced in the monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly beginning on July 7, Mr Malaiya told a news conference here.

Enactment of the legislation to strengthen the single-window clearance system will bestow responsibility on various departments to sanction approvals and clearances under a time frame, he said.

Claiming that industrialisation in the state got a new impetus during the BJP rule, Mr Malaiya said investors meet held on different occasions to attract investment in industries, education, tourism and service sectors has led to signing of 241 memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a total investment of Rs 2,77,000 crore.

This include proposals worth Rs 1,70,000 crore for setting up and technical upgradation of industries and about 58 per cent of these proposals were in the initial stage of implementation.

14 investors, who signed MoU for investing Rs 3800 crore, did not respond so far and letters have been sent to them a fortnight ago to cancel the MoU, he added.

A two-day investors meet is proposed at Gwalior from July 30 to attract investors, particularly for Gwalior-Chambal region, Mr Malaiya said.
