CAT upholds IPS transfer in MP

Jabalpur, Jun 18 (UNI) The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) today upheld the transfer of Shajapur's Superintendent of Police to Datia and dismissed the officer's plea.

The Tribunal stayed the transfer on June 16 when CAT Member M K Gupta heard SP J P Ahirwar's petition.

Petitioner's Counsel Manoj Sharma submitted that Mr Ahirwar was transferred from here to Shajapur about 11 months back. The officer was recently shifted as Commandant, 29th Battalion, Special Armed Force, Datia.

''A Supreme Court order clearly lays down that officers from the level of Inspector-General to Station House Officer cannot be transferred more than once in a two-year period,'' Mr Sharma submitted.
