3 held for kidnap, extortion

Mumbai, Jun 18 (UNI) Three people were arrested at Parksite of Vikroli on charges of kidnapping a minor for ransom amount of Rs two crore.

According to an complainant Jallauddin Sheikh (40) in his First Information Report (FIR), his 14-years-old son Mohammed Hasim was kidnapped by three persons, who demanded Rs two crore to release the victim, police said here today.

Mr Sheikh said that his son was kidnapped last Monday when he was on his way back to home from school. In evening, Mr Sheikh got a call on his mobile phone from kidnapper demanding Rs two crore for the release of his son.

Mr Sheikh mustered guts to lodge a complaint with police and simultaneously he accepted their demand. Yesterday when they came to collect the money, they were nabbed by police.

They were identified as Rahim Sheriff Ansari (21), Amir alias Ume Mohammed Momin (22) and Hariprasad Vishwakarma (22).

The trio have been booked for kidnapping and extortion.
