150 persons booked for rioting

Fatehabad, Jun 18 (UNI) As many as 150 persons were booked for rioting in connection with yesterday's incident wherein an irate mob went on rampage in protest against the collapse of a bridge on Ghaggar river near Ratia town resulting into death of two persons.

Local BJP leader Mahavir Prasad, Haryana Janhit Congress HJC (BL) leader Mangat Ram and a former MLA Jarnail Singh are among those who have been named in the FIR on the charges of rioting, causing damage to government property and assaulting government servants on duty in Ratia town of the district.

The protestors had stoned vehicles of government officers including SDM, and also blocked vehicular traffic near the Sanjay Gandhi Chowk.

The agitators were booked under sections 147, 148, 149, 353, 186, 347, 423 and 427 of the IPC.
