Nominations of both candidates in Bihar RS poll found valid
Patna, Jun 17 (UNI) The two nomination papers for the lone Rajya Sabha by-election from Bihar were found valid today after scrutiny.
State Assembly Secretary Surendra Prasad Sharma told UNI that the nominations of BJP candidate and former Civil Aviation Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy and that of RJD-supported Independent candidate Shiv Shankar Prasad Nishad were found valid after scrutiny.
He said the last date for withdrawal of nominiations was June 19 and if necessary the by-election would be held on June 26.
The lone Rajya Sabha by-election from the state has been necessiatated following the expulsion of BJP MP Captain Jaynarain Nishad from the party after he joined the RJD violating anti-defection law.
