NCP voices dissent against ministers for ignoring workers
Panaji, Jun 17 (UNI) Goa NCP executive committee today voiced its concern over ignoring real workers to the detriment of the party interests and decided to contest all the 40 seats in the next state assembly elections without any truck with the Congress.
The committee also censured Revenue Minister Jose Phillips and Tourism minister Micky Pascheco for not participating in the meetings on a regular basis, besides not taking care of the workers despite being in power.
At one point of time, the members said they would prefer to join the Congress rather than continue in the NCP to avoid facing humiliation from the very ministers representing the party in the coalition government.
The ministers had time to attend to the cabinet meetings but not the party meetings. This had resulted in the party position sliding from bad to worse, the members alleged.
They were also critical of Dr Carmo Pegado and Prof Surender Sirsad, who as vice presidents in-charge of South Goa and North Goa respectively for oganising the party at the block level, had failed to undertake the task.
The party president Dr Wilfred D'Souza assured the members that he would convey the feelings of the executive to the party high command.
