Five devotees killed in van-lorry collision in TN
Thanjavur, Jun 17 (UNI) Five devotees of Ayyappa were killed and two other injured when a Maruti Omni van in which they were travelling collided head-on with a firewood-laden lorry near Sengipatti on the Thanjavur-Tiruchirapalli National Highway near here early today.
Police said van driver Nalasivam (35), Rajesh (27) and Murugesan (35) died on the spot while Balasubramanian (45) and Muthukumar (35) succumbed to injuries at the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital where the injured were admitted.
The occupants of the van were returning here after worshipping at the lord Ayyappa temple, Sabarimala, when the mishap occurred.
