ELGI Equipments opens susbsidiary

Chennai, Jun 17 (UNI) The Rs 500-crore ELGI Equipments Limited (EEL), a Coimbatore-based engineering company manufacturing industrial air compressors, today announced opening of a subsidiary named ELGI GULF FZE at Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Commenting on the development, Mr V T Govindarajan, Director (Global Business) EEL said, "the subsidiary is a full-fledged sales and service organization through which we intend to offer prompt and speedy service deliveries with short lead times to our customers.

This office-cum-warehouse facility would enable us to expand our product range and ensure immediate service in the fast growing Middle East market".

He said the aim of setting up the subsidiary was to become one among the top five compressor players in the Middle East where the company had been active for the last ten years.

ELGI GULF would initially serve the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) markets and eventually plan to expand its presence in the Middle East region and North Africa, he said.

Mr Jairam Varadaraj, Managing Director of EEL said that the construction industry in the UAE witnessed an unprecedented growth in the recent past and the company has always been striving to be at the forefront by meeting critical delivery requirements from the sector.

ELGI has been a reliable supplier towards the development of the Arab world's industrial base and economy by providing quality air compressors and services at competitive prices, he added.
