13 fishermen reported 'missing'

Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Jun 17 (UNI) Anxious moments prevailed in the coastal hamlets here as 13 fishermen, who ventured into sea in three mechanised boats, were reported'missing' today.

Official sources said a group of fishermen, hailing from this Island town, set sail into sea yesterday in 739 mechanised boats.

Except three boats, all others returned to the shore this morning.

The Tamil Nadu Fisheries Department was alerted on the matter.

Meanwhile, a salvage team, after receiving a search order from the authorities, ventured into the sea in a mechanised boat this afternoon to trace the 'missing' fishermen.
