With eye on LS polls, Ajay Tamta elevated to Cabinet rank

Dehra Dun, Jun 16 (UNI) Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Uttarakhand Minister of State for Social Welfare and Home Ajay Tamta was today elevated to Cabinet rank.

Governor B L Joshi administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Tamta at a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhavan this evening which was attended by several Ministers.

This was for the first time that changes were incurred in the one-and-a-half-year old B C Khanduri Government.

The 12-member Council of Ministers now includes 11 Cabinet Ministers apart from one Minister of State.

Mr Tamta's elevation is seen as a strategic move to woo Scheduled Tribe voters ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
