Indo-Malay to sign MoU to protect Indian workers

Kuala Lumpur, June 16: India's High Commissioner to Malaysia Ashok Kantha said that the Indian government had agreed to the signing of a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia to guard the interests of its citizens working here.

The Indian Government sent an invitation to Human Resources Minister Dr. S. Subramaniam to sign the MoU on behalf of Malaysia, which would reduce problems being faced by the Indian workers. In some instances, workers were given low pay and allegedly tortured by their employers, the Star reported.
