No newspapers hit stands today in Manipur

Imphal, June 16 (UNI) No newspapers were published in Manipur today following a stir launched by the All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU).

The union stated that during the past few days the journalists had been facing pressures from suspected militants over the issue of publication of news articles.

Suspected militants had threatened the journalists which led to the union's decision to suspend all activities.

All the local cable networks had also suspended all news channel in the state.

The AMWJU will hold a meeting on the issue later today.
