Hurriyat Geelani group protests land transfer to SASB

Srinagar, Jun 16 (UNI) Hundreds of activists of breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) here today took to streets to protest against transfer of 39.88 hectares of forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) by the state government.

The activists, raising slogans against SASB and coalition government, alleged that this was the first step towards changing the muslim character of the state.

The Hurriyat activists started their march from Court Road and after passing through different streets, including busy Budshah Chowk, Exchange chowk and Regal chowk dispersed at Partap Park.

The coalition government recently transferred 39.88 hectares of forest land to SASB in block Kukllan in Sindh range at Baltal, the base camp for holy cave.

The Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and almost all other separatist leaders have protested the transfer of land to SASB.
