Employees association calls off indefinite pen-down strike
Panaji,June 16(UNI) With the Democle's Sword of ESMA hanging on the head and a split among employees becoming imminent, the Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) announced ''staying'' of their indefinite pen-down agitation with immediate effect late tonight.
This was declared at a hurriedly convened press conference by the association president M.L.Shetkar. He indicated that the association was ready to hold discussions further with the government tomorrow.
While one section of the employees association was in favour of accepting whatever the government had offered during the discussions earlier, another group was against and wanted to continue with the strike launched since last friday.
This led to the association president staying the strike with immediate effect and going in for further negotiations.
