BJP mocks Maya for alleging police selling 'thanas'
Lucknow, June 16 (UNI) Cornering Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on her words, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said if the UP CM's statement ''stop selling thana'' was true, then why legal action being delayed over the same.
UP BJP spokesperson Hridaya Narayan Dixit here said, ''we have full faith that the UP CM had issued the satement on rational grounds.'' However, asked the CM why was she quiet even after learning about the reality.
He further questioned Mayawati why the police station in charge and other backing corrupt practices were not booked.
Taking strong exception to the corrupt practice, Mr Dixit said purchase and selling of police stations was violation of Police Act, Police regulation and Indian Penal Code and it calls for serious action.
Ironically, the BSP government that claims of transparent and fair regime were mum over such a heinous crime.
He witingly termed Ms Mayawati's statement a ''mocking political stunt'' through which the UP CM was showing off her position and powers to police officials.
If such satements had any ground reality, the UP CM should have taken stringent action against the culprit, he maintained.
