Crescent Therapeutics opens manufacturing facility in Baddi

Chandigarh, June 15 (UNI) Crescent Therapeutics' essentially a marketing organisation has transformed into a manufacturing organisation as well with the commencement of production at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh.

The manufacturing facility is dedicated to oral solids of all types of tablets, capsules, caplets and pellets with different release patterns.

Founded in 1997 as a proprietary concern, Crescent Therapeautics became a deemed limited company in 2003. The company recorded about Rs 160 million in sales for the last financial year. For the current fiscal year, the company is determined to cross Rs 240 million in sales.

A company release today stated that right from inception, Crescent has focued on central nervous system (CNS) disorders.

The therapeutic area involves coverage of two super specialty prescriber segments- psyhiatrists and neurologists.

The neurospsychiatry market in India is a very small sub segment of the Indian pharmaceutical industry accounting for only 6-7 per cent.

The company's product mix is very vast with 165 product packs to treat every ailment in CNS disorders except two conditions, movement disorders and Alzheimer's dosease.

The manufacturing facility at Baddi has a huge capacity of about three million tablets and 300,000 capsules in an eight hour shift.

The next step in the company's game plan is to be preferred partners in the development and manufacture of oral solid finished dosage forms (FDFs) for some of the domestic pharma majors to start with in the immediate future and to some of the leading international generic companies in the medium term.
