London, Jun 14 : Welsh professional snooker player Ryan Day has tied the knot with his step-aunt.
The 28-year-old, who ranks as the eighth snooker champ in the world, married his step-mom Paula's younger sister, 32-year-old Lynsey, in Pontycymer, Bridgend, South Wales, and is now on honeymoon in Crete.
The wedding means that Ryan and Kevin now have the same mother-in-law - Linda Lloyd.
"Some people like to keep family at arm's length, but we're all very close - obviously," the Sun quoted a delighted Lynsey, as saying.
"Poor Ryan got a bit of stick from the lads at first, but he can cope with it. I know some will see it as a source of amusement that he's married his auntie, as it were. But I can see the funny side. When he went on his stag weekend to Malaga the guys all wore T-shirts printed with a saucy slogan about us. What can you do but laugh?
"We're all used to it now and we have a fantastic family life together," she said.
Lynsey is not the only one who is delighted with how things are going, her 36-year-old sister Paula is equally happy.
"I'm absolutely delighted my Lynsey and Ryan are together. They're such lovely people. Me and Kevin are proud of them both," Paula said.
Ryan and Lynsey had first started dating the when he was just 13-years-old and still "a grumpy teenager", and their childhood romance ended when she left Pontycymer. But after she split from a long-term boyfriend five years ago she returned to her native Wales, where she found herself spending a lot of time with her sister, then Kevin, and after which Ryan came back into the frame.
They moved in together and 22 months ago had daughter Francesca.
