Rs Five crore for just a number

Dubai, June 14 (UNI) Recording an all time high here, a car licence number G 16 was auctioned off for a whopping 5 million Dirham (Rs 5.5 crore) here.

The Dubai 58th auction of number plates, which has always been a money spinner for the transport authority, fetched a total of 32 million Dirham (over Rs 35 crore), an official release said.

The bidding was the highest in the two-digit category with G 16 going for 5 million Dirham, E 60 for 3.6 million Dirham and G 21 for 3.4 million Dirham.
