Rains in eastern UP heralds its entrance in other parts

Lucknow, June 14 (UNI) With the south-west monsoon having lashed the eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh, the met department has predicted it to enter the capital city within two days.

The weatherman here said Gorakhpur division of the eastern UP witnessed 5 cm rainfall in the last 24 hrs. Varanasi, Faizabad, Lucknow, Jhansi and Meerut divisions also received showers during this period.

Hardoi and Meerut recorded three cm each, while Varanasi and Rae Bareli wintessed one cm each rainfall.

The rains have brought much needed relief from the scorching heat for the denizens of UP. The maximum day temperature also dipped to several notches below normal.

Ghazipur and Nazeebabad (Bijjnore) were the hottest in the state with the maximum day temperature at 38 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the met department has forecast rains with thunder/lightning in most parts of the divisions for the next 24 hrs.
