LJP demands Mayawati's resignation

New Delhi, Jun 14 (UNI) The Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) has sought the resignation of Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister Mayawati for her failure to control 'increasing atrocities' on Dalits and Muslims in the state.

LJP's national vice president Phool Singh Bariya in a statement issued here today said the National Commision of SC and ST and the National Commission of Minorities have castigated the UP government for being the number one state in terms of atrocities on Dalits and Muslims.

Mr Bariya further alleged that ever since the Mayawati government had come to power in UP it had become a puppet in the hands of ''Manuwadis''. Despite claims of rule of law by the UP governemnt, culprits responsible for heinous atrocities on Dalits and Muslims were not brought to book.

The LJP has appealed to all ''Ambedkarwadis'' and forces of social justice and secularism to fight unitedly against the ''Manuwadi governemnt'' of Ms Mayawati, the statement added.
