CM rules out removal of Narvekar for cricket ticket scam
Panaji, Jun 14 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat today categorically ruled out the removal of Law and Finance Minister Dayanand Narvekar from the Cabinet, after a local court here framed charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy, in the infamous India-Australia ODI cricket ticket scam of the year 2001, against him.
''Mr Narvekar is not charged for any commissions and omissions related to the functioning of the government, but in private issues. Hence, the question of his removal from the Cabinet does not arise,'' Mr Kamat told mediapersons.
Regarding BJP leader Manohar Parrikar's demand for removal of Mr Narvekar, the Chief Minister said many opposition members have failed to resign despite facing charges in criminal cases.
