Wheat procurement doubles, goes up to 22 MT
New Delhi, June 13 (UNI) Wheat procurement by government agencies has doubled since last year and crossed the 22 million tonne mark this year as against 11.3 million tonnes for the whole of last year.
''Yesterday, the procurement reached 22.02 MT,'' an official spokesman said here today.
The procurement was the highest in Punjab (9.9 MT) followed by Haryana (5.2 MT) and Uttar Pradesh (2.8 MT).
Madhya Pradesh came a close fourth with 2.3 MT, Rajasthan (0.9 MT), Gujarat (0.4 MT), Bihar (0.36 MT), Uttarakhand (80 thousand tonnes,) Chandigarh (10 Th T), Delhi (6.5 Th T), Maharashtra (6.5 Th T), Jharkhand (1.2 Th T), Jammu and Kashmir (990 T) and Himachal Pradesh (232 T).
