Vaccination drive to curb Japanese Encephalitis in UP

Bareilly, Jun 13 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today commenced a week long vaccination drive to check the fatal Japenese Encephalitis (JE) from spreading more.

The inoculation drive would be carried out on people, aging between one to 15 yrs, till June 20 at booths, which have been specially set up in each village for the purpose.

Addressing newspersons after holding a high-level meeting to discuss upon the issue, District Magistrate R Ramesh said the Chief Medical Officers (CMO) have been asked to promote the drive and spread awareness among people on JE.

This vaccination would be provided free-of-cost, he added.

Later, giving more details, CMO R C Mishra said altogether 272 teams have been pressed into service and nearby 15 teams would be deployed at each block.

As JE grips most in eastern parts of UP, Bareilly and Muzaffarnagar have been declared sensitive in the state, the medico added.
