Two shot dead in Kohima

Kohima, Jun 13 (UNI) Unidentified gunmen shot dead two persons in the heart of Kohima town in broad daylight this morning.

Official sources said police recovered five extortion notes of the proscribed outfit, Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) from the deceaseds' possession.

However, relatives of the deceaseds claimed that they were innocent. One of them was a civilian while the other was a Home Guard.

According to the sources, the duo was engaged in extortion activities in the busy Super Market area in the heart of the town, when some gunmen took them to the Local Ground, where they were shot from point blank range.

One of the victims died on the spot, while the other succumbed to his injuries in a hospital here.

Police recovered the bodies and a case has been registered.

The bodies were later handed over to relatives, the sources added.
