Three injured by IRB personnel
Itanagar, Jun 13 (UNI) More than three persons were injured when Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel allegedly opened fire on an unruly mob at Daporijo, the headquarters of Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Daporijo Superintendent of Police (SP) Mari Riba told UNI today that a skirmish broke out between the public and a few IRB personnel last evening, when the personnel, deployed for Panchayat elections duty, allegedly manhandled a few people near its temporary camp.
The mob attacked the police beat and police station, including the IRB personnel, besides setting ablaze a bus and destroying few police vehicles, the SP said.
The mob also went into a rampage destroying public property, he added.
The injured were immediately shifted to the district hospital where the condition of a person who sustained multiple bullet injuries was stated to be critical, he informed.
Meanwhile, the district administration made adequate security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident, he added.
