Minister in power theft; Cong demands dismissal
Bhopal, June 13 (UNI) Main opposition Congress today demanded the dismissal of Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Home and Transport Ramdayal Ahirwar for lighting his house with stolen electricity at his native place Maharajpur in Chhattarpur district.
Congress also submitted a memorandum to Governor Balram Jakhar seeking the dismissal of Mr Ahirwar, who was inducted into Shivraj Singh Chouban cabinet only a week ago, party spokesman Manak Agrawal said.
Mr Ahirwar was embroiled in a controversy immediately after his induction into the cabinet with his son Laxmi assaulting a police inspector after the latter declined to arrange vehicles for the minister's reception in Maharajpur. Laxmi and his two associates were on bail after their arrest two days ago.
Mr Agrawal alleged that Mr Ahirwar was indulging in power theft for about eight years as there was no electricity connection in the name of his family members. Even airconditioners were used in the house, he said, adding even stolen electricity was used for lighting the house during Laxmi's marriage attended by several VVIPs.
Congress alleged that the BJP ministers by pressurising officers were indulging in amassing wealth and there was no check on them with the Chief Minister remaining silent.
