Lt col among two officers, two jawans killed in Kishtwar
Jammu, June 13 (UNI) Two officers, including a Lt Colonel of Army, and two jawans were shot dead by militants in the hilly Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir today.
Lt Col Ajay Verma of 118 RCC (road construction company) of project beacon and his deputy Mr S P Sharma were attacked by some unidentified militants at sinthan top in Chhatru area of Kishtwar at 1730 hrs, Defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami told UNI.
''Both the officers and two jawans of 155 TA battalion, who were accompanying them, were killed in the militant attack,'' the spokesman said.
Immediately after the attack was reported, the security forces rushed to the spot. ''search operation is going on to hunt down the militants,'' Lt Col Goswami said.
