Srinagar, Jun 13 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) today produced challan in a local court against former Chief Engineer, five Executive Engineers and others in a government money misappropriation case.

A spokesman of the VO said the challan was produced against eight accused engineers including Shamas-ud-Din Koka, the then Chief Engineer Road and Buildings (R&B), Kashmir (now retired), Ghulam Nabi Ganai, the then Executive Engineer R&B Division Qazigund, (now retired) Manzoor Ahmad Dar, the then Executive Engineer R&B Division Khanabal, Mohammad Ajaz Khan, the then Senior Assistant (Storekeeper) R&B Division Qazigund and suppliers in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Kashmir.

The accused has misappropriated government money by purchasing material without inviting tenders on highly exorbitant rates from favourite suppliers thereby causing a loss of Rs 93.14 lacs to the State exchequer during 2005-06.
