Gujjars agitation hit floriculture business in Rajasthan

Jaipur, June 13 : The Gujjar agitation in Rajasthan has badly hit floriculture business in Jaipur.

With agitators having blocked rail and road links, the traders could not ferry the flowers to New Delhi, a huge consumer of flowers.

"We have incurred huge losses. The traffic was not allowed to pass through these roads and highways. All our produce got destroyed. We have lost out on the money and the customers also," said Ravinder, a seller.

Many complained that the traders and exporters who had ordered large quantities of flowers were the worst hit.

They observed that while their business suffered, they had to incur expenditure out of their pocket to dispose off the rotten flowers.

"The farmers have lost in their business. They could not reach the market place. Even if some of them managed to get their produce to the market, the transportation cost was exorbitant," said Jairam, another seller.
