Devout meets watery grave in Ganga

Kanpur, Jun 13 (UNI) Religious celebrations here took a tragic turn today after a devout drowned while taking a holy dip in the river Ganga on the occasion of Ganga Dushehra.

Pradip Kumar, a tea seller of Rawatpur, had gone along with his friends to Rani ghat in Kohna area where he got caught under the deepwaters, police said.

His body was later fished out and sent for a postmortem.

Thousands of devotees today took a dip in the holy river and offered prayers at temples on Ganga Dushehra today.
