Two suicides in north Kashmir

Baramulla, Jun 12 (UNI) A Special Police Officer (SPO) and a girl committed suicide in north Kashmir early this morning, official sources said.

They said SPO Nazir Ahmad Dar consumed some poisonous substance in his Zengam, Lolab, house at 0030 hrs. However, he died before he could be shifted to hospital.

Sources said a girl, Maryama, also consumed poison in her Chandigam Lolab, house in the frontier district of Kupwara. She died on way to hospital.

The trend of suicide among the people, particuarly women, in the Kashmir Valley has registered an increase after the muslim ulmas issued a fatwa declaring it an unislamic act.
