Strike deferred in RRBs

Bhopal, Jun 12 (UNI) The three-day strike in all 88 Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) across the country from June 16 called by the Joint Forum of Gramin Bank Unions to press for four-point charter of demands has been deferred following talks with the Centre.

Madhya Pradesh State Gramin Bank Officers Federation General Secretary K K Gour said in a statement here today that leaders of employees and officers held talks with Joint Secretary Tarun Bajaj on their demands, following which the proposed strike was deferred.

Mr Gour said the meeting took place in a positive environment and the Joint Secretary assured that the issues raised by the Forum received serious attention of the Centre. On the issue of parity in other allowances, positive steps would be taken to restore parity, Mr Bajaj assured, adding a positive move would also be made on the issue of provident fund and pension.

The demands include PF and pension parity with public sector banks, parity in other allowances and benefits including parity in service regulation, restoration of compassionate appointments and provision of manpower, recruitment, promotion in all cadres and opposing outsourcing in RRBs.
