Senior cop's unplanned visit

Bareilly, Jun 12 (UNI) Sleuths at a police outpost in Shahjahanpur district broke out in sweat after Inspector General of Police (IG), Bareilly zone, made a surprise visit today.

IG Javeed Ahmad was heading towards Bareilly from the Uttar Pradesh capital city, when he thought to visit Gurra outpost under Roza police station, while traversing through Shahjahanpur.

On seeing the senior cop, the policemen deployed at the outpost ran away leaving behind their arms and ammunition, sources said.

At the time of the IG's visit, a home guard was engaged in illicit extraction of money from tractor drivers, sources added.

Meanwhile, the IG recovered the arms of the guilty policemen and ordered investigation against them.
