Old man falls into sea, three injured in tree fall
Udupi, Jun 12 (UNI) A 65-year-old man was killed when he fell into the sea, while three spersons injured in a separate incident when a tree fell on their house in the wake of heavy monsoon rains lashing coastal districts of Karnataka.
The unidentified old man slipped and fell at Maravanthe beach in Kundapur taluk in the district, while the second incident happened at Athikaribettu near Mulky in Dakshina Kannada(DK).
They had been admitted in a private hospital in Mangalore.
Meanwhile, the sea erosion had become severe at Kodibengre in Udupi taluk. Huge boulders dumped for break water have been washed away due to severe erosion. Sea erosion continued in other places like Ullal, Someshwar, Moolur and Polipu.
People in Surathkal in DK were worried as the newly constructed over bridge under the national highway at NITK had become weak allegedly due to sub standard work.
Panambur(16), Bantwal, Bajpe(14 each), Mulki (13) received heavy rainfall on the state's coast during the last 24 hours.
